WalkReady

Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 27, 2026

WalkReady is designed to give you control of your walking data. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we don't.

About this policy

WalkReady is operated by Openroad Apps LLC (“we,” “us,” or “WalkReady”). This policy applies to the WalkReady mobile app and the walkready.app website.

What WalkReady collects from free users

If you use WalkReady without creating an account, the app stores all of your walk data locally on your device only. We do not collect, transmit, or store this data on our servers.

What WalkReady collects from Plus subscribers and account holders

If you create a WalkReady account (whether or not you subscribe to WalkReady Plus), we collect:

  • Account information: your email address (if you sign up with email) and a unique account identifier. If you sign up with Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google, we receive whatever information you authorize those providers to share.
  • Display name: the name you choose to show other users, used in the Walking Buddies feature.
  • Walk data: when you complete a walk, we sync the date, duration, step count, and any associated notes to your account so it's available across your devices. We never share this data with anyone other than the Walking Buddies you choose to connect with.
  • Subscription information: if you subscribe to WalkReady Plus, we receive purchase confirmation from Apple App Store or Google Play, processed through our subscription management partner RevenueCat. We don't see your payment details (credit card numbers, etc.); those stay with Apple or Google.
  • Device information: we register your devices so we can send the walk reminders you've requested. We store your device's notification token, platform, and a device label you can review and remove at any time.
  • Optional analytics: if you don't opt out in Settings, we collect anonymized usage data through PostHog to understand how features are being used. This data doesn't identify you personally. You can disable this in Settings under Privacy.
  • Crash reports: we collect anonymous crash reports through Sentry to fix problems in the app. These don't include personal information.

What we don't collect

  • No GPS or location data. WalkReady uses your phone's step counter only.
  • No health data beyond steps. We don't collect heart rate, blood pressure, or any other health metrics.
  • No advertising identifiers. We don't track you for advertising purposes.
  • No data brokers. We don't sell your data to anyone.

How we use your information

Your data is used to provide WalkReady's features. Specifically:

  • • To sync your walks across your devices so you can use WalkReady on multiple devices
  • • To enable Walking Buddies features (showing your walks to people you've connected with)
  • • To send you walk reminders if you've enabled them
  • • To write your walks to Apple Health or Google Fit if you've enabled that integration
  • • To send you a Clinician PDF Report when you generate one
  • • To process your subscription if you're a WalkReady Plus subscriber
  • • To respond to support requests if you contact us

Who we share your information with

We share information only as needed to provide WalkReady:

  • Walking Buddies you've connected with see your display name, walk activity (date and step count), and any reactions you send them. They do not see your email address or any other contact information.
  • Apple App Store and Google Play handle subscription processing and payments.
  • RevenueCat processes subscription state on our behalf so we know whether you're a Plus subscriber.
  • Supabase hosts our backend infrastructure. They store the data on our behalf and do not access it.
  • Expo's push notification service routes your push notifications to Apple's APNs and Google's FCM services.
  • Apple Health and Google Fit / Health Connect receive your walks only if you've explicitly enabled that integration.
  • PostHog (analytics) and Sentry (crash reporting) receive anonymized data only.

Otherwise, we do not share, sell, or rent your information.

WalkReady is operated from the United States. If you use WalkReady from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and stored on servers located in the United States.

To exercise these rights, contact us at walkready@openroadapps.com. We will respond within 30 days.

The legal basis for our processing of your data is your consent (when you create an account, enable features, or grant permissions) and our legitimate interests in providing the app you've chosen to use.

California users (CCPA)

If you're a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

  • • The right to know what personal information we've collected about you and how we use it
  • • The right to delete personal information we've collected

Account deletion

You can delete your WalkReady account at any time from the Settings screen. When you delete your account:

  • • Your walk data is permanently removed from our servers within 30 days
  • • Your buddy connections are severed
  • • Any active subscription continues until the end of its billing period, after which it stops
  • • You can re-create an account in the future, but your previous data will not be recoverable

Data we keep after account deletion

For legal and operational reasons, we keep:

  • • Anonymized aggregate data (no personal identifiers, used for product analytics)
  • • Records of subscription transactions (required for tax and accounting purposes)
  • • Backup data for up to 90 days (so we can recover from operational issues)

Children's privacy

WalkReady is not intended for children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If a parent or guardian believes their child has used WalkReady, please contact us at walkready@openroadapps.com so we can delete the account.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we make significant changes, we'll notify you in the app and update the effective date at the top of this page.
